A boy and his... SPIDER?

I have always been afraid to let the boys play with the spiders. I was so worried that they would hurt my little ones... (boys hurting the spiders not the other way around) Today I wanted to give it a try. Both Ian and Jason were so gentle and interested in Lucy. It was precious. Jason really wanted to hold Lucy, and he told me she was "so sweet". I know that I am a bit of a spider freak, but I was just thrilled that they seemed to enjoy her as much as I do.

Mom VS. Dad

So I was looking at pictures we took over the weekend and the realization hit me that I was no fun.

Mom= Chores

Dad= FUN

Oh-well at least they have one fun parent!

"DARN-it"

It's a pun, if you don't get it you need to sew more :)
I decided to darn this quilt I am working on. I thought it would be interesting to do the darning (stippling) in a different color so it stands out and makes the back side of the quilt interesting. Well since I am doing the whole quilt I have gone through the thread I was using. I went to the store to get more brown thread, bought 3 different kinds and still ended up with the wrong color... Darn it. So back to walmart for me, this time I'm taking a sample of thread. Look at the wonderful variety of brown. In case you're wondering I am only 35-40% done with the darning, looks like I should buy two spools when I get the right color.

ABC - IAN

Here is our little one with his ABC's. I would love to take full credit, but I didn't teach him his letters, he just picked them up on his own. We discovered his talent one day when he was reading his letters off a Taco Cabana cup. This is how the day took place: Ian said "t-a-c-o ...". Matt and Terri say "Did he just spell out taco cabana?" "Wow, how long has Ian known his letters?" The rest is history. I'd like to thank the good people at PBS for their continuing effort to improve learning. Some day I'll donate (I owe them for this)!

Our Dinosaur Friends

Dino smiles -A very happy thing for Terri.

Here's the deal, we had the record "Our Dinosaur Friends" when I was little. I can remember the day that I was taking the record to kindergarten for show and tell and it slipped out of the cover and the record broke. Part of it was still playable but I was so sad. This was my favorite record growing up. As an adult I have looked everywhere trying to find a replacment. I found another record on ebay and bought it; however, I don't even own a record player. I have been asking around trying to find someone that would let me borrow one so that I could transfer it to MP3 and I would never have to worry about breaking a record again. Today was my lucky day. I found a guy who did just what I wanted to do and he went a step further, he put it online for download. I am happy to report I have the MP3 version of the Album. I tried to upload a song for your listening pleasure, but I didn't feel like working with html code so, if you want to hear a song from my childhood here is the link to the web page. Enjoy... if you want.

Jason Helping Vader try out new looks

Darth Vader into Devo?
Darth Vader wears a top hat?

Feel free to add what You think Vader is doing!

LUCK - BIG LUCK!

I know it's not a 4 leaf clover, but I think that bigger is better, or luckier for that matter.

I had no idea that clover leaves could get so HUGE. I guess it's true everything is BIGGER IN TEXAS!
I found this big guy on a walk yesterday, and it wasn't alone, he had a huge family of giant clovers. I love how green everything gets here (the trees, the ground cover, and the flowers). Everything has it's own hue and depth of green, it's fabulous! I really truly love spring here. I am grateful to have lived in so many desert states, because I can appreciate the green in Spring.

Upper respiratory

One person's allergies is my sons' asthma attack. Monday Jason started to sneeze. Tuesday Jason's nose started to run. Wednesday I thought he was getting 2 black eyes, but it was just a lack of oxygen (this picture does not do his "black" eyes justice). We began our usual routine for Jason. We're happy that he doesn't have to use the nebulizer any more, he just uses his 2 inhalers and it's much faster. Wednesday night, Ian wakes up coughing so hard and barely catching his breath. Time to pull out the trusty nebulizer for Ian. We feel so blessed that we have a Dr that treats them so well and that we have the medicine on hand to help them. Yesterday we would have had 2 trips to the ER if we didn't have the stuff at home. Here are a couple of sad pictures of my miserable guys. They will be back to jumping off of furniture and getting in trouble in no time!

2 cakes In 2 days!

Cake 1:
Wednesday, I made a cake for my friend Jana's baby shower. It was the first cake that I have ever (tried to) decorated in cream cheese frosting. It was brutal. No matter what I did I couldn't get a good constancy with the frosting. I didn't want to mess up the recipe either. I sacrificed some beauty for taste, and I did what I could with the decorations. If I ever do a cream cheese frosting again, I'll know. Lesson Learned: Cream cheese frosting + Piping = Disaster. On the up side, the cake was so good! It was a recipe for Carrot cake from the Lion House. So in the end, it may not look pretty, but it sure tasted good. Cake 2: Ian turns 3 tomorrow! Here is his Curious George cake. I like how it turned out, let's just say I'm happy to be back working in a butter cream. Check back soon for birthday updates.

Our Visitor!

Today while we were waiting for Jason to get off the bus we had a visitor come up the path to our house. We had fun watching his tongue moving in at out. Ian even got brave enough to touch it. The snake got a little annoyed by the end and I decided that we should let it go in peace. It was a wonderful experience. It was nice to meet you snake friend!

Inside-out and backwards

There is a slight unforeseen complication with Ian's potty training (by the way he is doing awesome!) He is becoming very independent. Today he put his shirt on backwards and inside-out, his pants were also on backwards but they were fixed after one of our bathroom breaks. I offered a number of times to fix his shirt but he is quite determined to wear it that way. And quite frankly, it's really fine with me. I wonder if he thinks the "tag less tag" is the shirts decoration. He's just so cute.

Beagle?

For the Hong family and all their Beagle loving ways, here is your beagle puppet, or at least my best attempt at one. Danny is my good friend and deserves another beagle (sorry Danny, you don't need to feed this one)

Um, Seriously could you two stop growing?

Today our family had one of our usual trips to Mercer Arboretum. I couldn't help but notice how big my boys are getting. Ian was in his big boy underwear and didn't have a pee accident all day.
If anyone has any ideas how to keep them from growing up let me know! Then again, having bigger kids does have it's advantages. :)

THIS BLOG IS RATED PG (For mild potty-training Nudity)

Taming of the Ian (Day 2)

Some say it is impossible to tame the human boy; however, I must try. My biggest challenge is to train this young beast to use the toilet. Boys naturally have no desire to use what we call a bathroom and find their own filth comforting. Day 2 has not come without its challenges, but I feel that I have won more battles this day than lost. Some of the casualties include a pair of underwear, pants, quite a few Clorox wipes and some candies (those were sacrificed for a good cause). On a number of occasions it was necessary to fight on enemy soil (toilets not at home) and Ian came though with flying colors. By the end of the day I felt we were on the same team. I almost have this little one totally brainwashed, he will soon gain some humanity.

Wish me luck for day 3.

I love how cute they are in underwear :)

Obsessions

Tuesday 4/1 I did something I wasn't going to do anymore. I bought a CD. I know that doesn't sound that bad, but Matt and I just spent months organizing, cataloging and putting all our music on the computer, I decided that I was not going to clutter my house with more CD's so I was going to download songs instead. So why on the same day do we both buy CD's? Matt got a new Joe Satriani album and I knew he got it because he was obsessed, so what does that say about me... Yep, I got the Muse HAARP cd/dvd because I am obsessed too. I tried to rationalize it by saying that it's a DVD too, but really that's what You Tube is for. Admitting you have a problem is the first step so here I am blogging to the 5 people that read this, I am obsessed and it's not just Muse, it's other things too. It's weird because I didn't used to get so obsessive about things. Perhaps it's my "stay at home mom" life that had lead me into my fictional world of Books and Music. Perhaps it was always in my nature and has come out with the internet age... It's true I couldn't be obsessed with out my internet. Maybe I've always been obsessed but it wasn't so obvious to me (like being obsessed with my husband or kids) so here I am trying to come clean... Hi my name is Terri and I am a Muse/Twilight/Harry Potter addict.

Hmmm, Maybe I need to add blogging to my list too?
