This picture is unrelated to the story (However it is an amazing display of static electricity)
Yesterday I needed to make a treat for "it's great to be 8" (an activity to prepare the 7-year-olds about their baptism). I rush home knowing I need to making a fast dessert, aware that I'm running low on butter and that I have no mixes either. I settle on making Molasses cookies (which require shortening). I gave the boys a cookie before we left to which Jason exclaims:
"You were supposed to make a YUMMY treat"
Let's see if he actually makes it to 8...

hilarious!!!
Sorry, but I'm with Jason on this one...
For those who might not have noticed, the balloon is not touching anything else...just his hair. It had quite a bit of buoyant force, too, because it was pretty new (you know how sad helium balloons get after a while). I'll leave it as an exercise to the reader to calculate the the needed electrostatic force required to keep the balloon from floating up.
Oh, and I liked the cookies just fine.
he is so funny
gotta love kid honesty!
That's hilarious! And Mattamorphasis you crack me up! How in the world are us lowly blog readers supposed to "calculate the needed electrostatic force requirement"??? I need a formula or some helpful hints at least!!!! Like when was Jason's hair washed last? Or does it only occur with green balloons?? OK I'm totally overthinking this! I'm sure it's much simpler right? And I know you're other much smarter friends already figure it out, right?
