"Awesome-us" Prime

Superheros can make good cakes!
Here is our friend Matty's birthday cake! Go ahead, click on it, it's so detailed you could transform him! So, Matty likes Optimus Prime, and it's a good thing he likes the "old school" Optimus, because I don't think I had a chance to make a likeness of the new version. My husband is also a huge Optimus Prime fan and he was my biggest critic, the cake passed Matt's inspection. And I was happy that Matty knew who it was! Maybe my Matt will get a transformer cake for his birthday... looks like you don't need to be 5 to get one!
Everyone at the party must have been Decepticons, because Optimus was cut into several pieces and destroyed!

Ian's dinner adventrues

So I am almost finished with dinner Sunday night (whole wheat spaghetti, and turkey meatballs) and I hear Ian crying. I ask "What's wrong Ian"... and he replies "There's a Lego in my nose." I reply "There's a Lego in your, WHAT... did you say in your NOSE?" Yes, he said nose! So I race upstairs to get my tweezers, I am praying that I won't have to take him to the emergency room (mostly because I was hungry and I really wanted to eat, I know I'm a horrible person). I get downstairs and grab the flashlight, yep, a tiny 1 brick round Lego is up his left nostril. Of course before I insert any potentially dangerous objects in my 3 year olds' nose, my level headed husband gets a Kleenex and tells him to blow really hard. Another crisis averted and dinner is saved!
Speaking of dinner, it was really good, Ian totally enjoyed it! He had (not exaggerating) 4 helpings of spaghetti, and he was a mess. Jason ate tons of meatballs and he is a garlic bread-aholic. I love a meal in which everyone not only eats, but eats well!

Sadly, I didn't get a picture of the Lego, but here's Ian's messy Spaghetti face.

I like Music! You wanna mess with me?

Foreigner

Lovebirds

Our Friends the Warnicks invited us to the Foreigner/Brian Adams concert on Friday. I was so excited, if you don't know, our song is "Everything I do, I do it for you" by Brian Adams and "I want to know what love is" by Foreigner really takes us back to our high school relationship. The concert was outstanding, both bands preformed really well live. There were several added bonuses, the people watching was fabulous! Let's just say that only Cara, Jeff and Matt know the joy of this one night. The other awesome thing was before the concert they play random music over the PA system, well I heard "Super Massive Black Hole" by MUSE!! Yeah, it totally made my day, since they aren't really a main stream band it was fun; however Foreigner decided to start their concert and I didn't get to finish listening to my Muse song :( I was mad at Foreigner for a while after that but they rocked out so it was okay. I'm diggin' this concert business, we already have tickets to Brad Paisley & Jewel in October!

My New Projects

My friend Jackie asked me to make her a "Hooter Hider" for her new baby. If you are unaware of what one is I'll try to explain. It's a nursing cover up, (kinda like a reverse cape) but the front bows outward so the mom can see the baby, and keep the blanket away from the babies face, plus the babies can't yank them off. I also made a cute matching bag for it to fit in. It's a cool idea, and in no way did I think of it, but luckily I had some other friends that let me look at theirs to copy the design. I am not the biggest fan of the name though... any ideas on naming it, I was thinking about "Modesty Maker" Or "Nursing Pal" Put your ideas in the comments. I am also working on a wall hanging for Jackie using the same (really cute) fabric. So look forward to that in a few weeks. I am fighting the clock here Breaking Dawn is 1 week away (yeah) so hopefully I'll have it done by then. Yeah for keeping busy! I am grateful for my friends for helping me do something I enjoy.

Why do I get so lucky?

8 Tickets to Martina McBride : Free
1 Lemon Ice: $5.00
Girls Night Out: Priceless!

My Friend Janalyn called me Saturday and said that she had a bunch of tickets to see Martina McBride that night and wanted to know if I could come, (Like I even have to think about it!) Okay, So I know I'm not the biggest country fan, but I do enjoy country music (I'll admit it I have plenty of country music on my iPod). Anyway, it was a fabulous concert, and so fun to have a girls night out. So here's the story, my friends husband co-worker had the tickets and they couldn't use them because family was in town (they had 8 tickets, they must have a huge family... jk...) and passed them off to her, wow lucky! Oh, and it was my first concert at The Woodland Pavilion and it was Awesome, I totally loved the lawn seats, maybe I'll go see Dave Matthews next month just to make Emily jealous! :)

New Friends... Old Friends... Animal Friends

Saturday we met Matt's cousin Sammie and his wife Melissa at the Zoo. They were visiting some friends and family here in Houston and we were invited to tag along. It was my first time meeting Melissa (Melba) and she's such a sweetheart, we also met the McLaughlins (Melba's friends that just moved to Houston). We asked Jason what his favorite part of the zoo was, here is his quote "My new Friend"! Jason and Emily hit it off (Emily is 6months older then him and about a foot taller!)
We had a wonderful (mind you still very hot) day at the zoo! I have to agree with Jason, my favorite part of the zoo was visiting with my new friends and family. Here are some pictures of the cute kids (including Sammie and Melba). Is that Komodo dragon looking at Ian?

Some Animals at the Zoo. My animal feelings... The eagle was beautiful, the warthog was ugly, the orangutans was colorful and the meerkats are cute! The monkey is scared, I made a monkey noise, and I seriously scared it and it was hiding from me, what does that say about me?

Memory Lane

Here are the directions:
1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you know me a little or a lot, anything you remember!
2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you.
It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, I'll leave my memory of you in my comments. So let's have it! Don't be shy! What do you remember? Anything funny, embarrassing, silly...

Happy hair or unhappy hair.

I was sick of Jason's hair. He always had this "Herman Munster" look. No matter what I did (copious amount of gel and hair spray) it still always went back to his classic look. I actually tried to cut it in a myriad of different ways but he still ended up looking like Frankenstein's monster. So I got out the clippers and gave him the old #2. I remembered why we shied away from it in the beginning... he has a very unusual hair line, a bit of the "Cannon widows peak" and some of my interesting "more hair that one should have on their forehead" hair line. Of course Jase is getting big, let's see how he feels about it...

If pictures are worth 1,000 words what are videos worth?
